How to Make Slow Cooker Italian Roast Beef Sandwich with Homemade Au Jus
Once you’ve got it in the slow cooker, the only thing left is to put it all together on your hoagie rolls and eat!
Step 1: Remove meat from the refrigerator one hour before slow cooking. Trim any excess fat off the meat. Place the meat in the slow cooker and cook on low for 1 hour.
Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together the dried parsley flakes, basil, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and onion salt. Mix until combined then sprinkle on top of the roast. Combine the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth together and mix well. Pour over the beef. Cook for another 5-6 hours or until the roasts internal temperature reaches 165° If you prefer shredded Italian beef, it may need to cook up to 9 hours. Once the roast is fork tender and can be shredded, take two forks and shred the beef. Place roast back into the broth and allow it to cook for an additional 30 minutes on low.
Step 3: Cut the meat into thin slices and add to your hoagie buns. Use the au jus (broth) that the meat cooked in for dipping!
