Easy Apple Goodie is an apple crisp recipe filled with apples, cinnamon and sugar and topped with an oatmeal streusel. Make it anytime of the year, but especially during the apple picking season!
I got this recipe from a friend I worked with back in the 1990’s and she was someone I looked up to because everything she made was so delicious and let me tell you, this is a really good one. Doing some research on this recipe, I learned that it was previous called Amish Apple Goodie. One thing about the name, it is a goodie!
The thing I really like about it is that it doesn’t make too much, so if you’re a family of four or less, this recipe will be the perfect amount for you. If you’re a bigger family, double the recipe! I have a daughter who loves fruit and really loves fruit pies, crisps, and streusels so if you have kiddos who love fruit “anything” as much as my daughter does, then make a double batch!
What You Need

White Sugar
All Purpose Flour

Tips for Making Easy Apple Goodie
Fresh apples, like Granny Smith apples that are tart apples, are the best apples for this recipe.
Honey Crisp apples are also good in this recipe or any tart apple variety
If you have an apple peeler, that will make the process go quickly. If you don’t, like me, peeling enough apples to get 2 cups didn’t take too long!
When making the topping, but sure to start with cold butter

How To Make Easy Apple Goodie
Once you have the apples peeled and sliced, the rest of the recipe comes together quickly! This may quickly become your go-to recipe for apple desserts in the Fall.
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350° and prepare a deep dish pie pan with non-stick cooking spray. Clean, peel and thinly slice the apples. Move sliced apples to a medium bowl and add the sugar. Mix sugar with flour and cinnamon then toss until all apples are completely covered. Place coated apples in the bottom of the prepared deep dish pie pan.
Step 2: To make the topping, start with a small bowl and add the oatmeal, baking soda, brown sugar and flour and mix until all ingredients are fully combined. Using a pastry cutter or two knives, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients to get a coarse crumb texture. Sprinkle the over the top of the apple slices and bake for 30-40 minutes. The streusel will have a golden brown, crisp topping full of sweet flavor!
Once the Easy Apple Goodie has cooled slightly, dish out and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Or, if you’re like my daughter, just eat it out of the pan!
How to Store Easy Apple Goodie
Keep the Easy Apple Goodie covered with aluminum foil at room temperature for 2-3 days or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
