Soft, chewy, and packed with peanut butter flavor, these cookies are a timeless dessert favorite.

These Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are a classic with simple ingredients and big flavor. Made with creamy peanut butter, brown sugar, chocolate chips, and mini peanut butter M&M’s, they bake up golden brown with soft centers and lightly crisp edges. If you love peanut butter cookies, this version delivers that familiar, comforting flavor with extra chocolate in every bite.
These Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are a true vintage recipe that came from my husband’s family, passed down from his grandmother. We were fortunate to inherit so many of her classic recipes and I’ve made it my mission to try as many as possible because there is something magical about a well-loved vintage recipe and the way it brings comfort, memories, and so much goodness all in one bite. The original recipe did not include peanut butter mini M&M's; I added those in after making this recipe a couple of times and they are a great addition.
Baking these cookies feels like a small connection to the past, and I love keeping these traditions alive in my own kitchen. These cookies are simple, comforting, and exactly the kind of cookie you reach for when you want something familiar and homemade.

Tips for Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
For best results, let your butter and eggs reach room temperature before mixing for the smoothest dough.
Use creamy peanut butter because it blends smoothly with brown sugar and butter, creating a soft, tender cookie every time.
Mix on low speed when combining the wet and dry ingredients to avoid dense cookies and keep them light and soft.
Chocolate chips and peanut butter M&M’s add texture and bursts of flavor. If you are a peanut butter love, try adding peanut butter chips!
If your kitchen is warm, chilling the dough for 15–30 minutes helps cookies keep their shape while baking.

How to Make Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. In a medium mixing bowl combine 2 cups flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Mix and set aside.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer with paddle attachment, cream together 1 cup softened butter, 1 cup packed brown sugar, and 2 eggs and mix until combined. Add 1 teaspoon milk and 1/4 cup peanut butter and mix until all ingredients are combined.

Step 3: Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing only until the flour and baking powder are incorporated into the wet ingredients. Fold in 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup peanut butter mini M&M's. Use a cookie scoop to portion out even cookie dough balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 9-10 minutes or until the edges are set and the tops are lightly golden brown. The centers may look soft, but they will finish setting as they cool. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. This preserves their soft texture.
