Use a cake mix that is 15.25oz
Not an Oreo fan, try using different flavored cake mixes and fillings, including chocolate and peanut butter or red velvet and cream cheese frosting - so many variations to try

How to Make Cream-Filled Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
This recipe starts with a cake mix and ends with homemade Oreos everyone will love!
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix with melted butter and one slightly beaten egg and mix well. Firmly shape dough into 1-inch balls.
Step 2: Place the cookie dough balls 2-inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet or lined with parchment paper or silicone mats and bake for 9-13 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool for a couple of minutes on the baking sheet before moving to the wire rack.
Step 3: For the creamy vanilla filling, in a small bowl or medium bowl combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, shortening, vanilla extract and egg whites and mix using an electric mixer on low speed until the ingredients are combined. Slowly add the remaining 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue mixing on medium to high speed until the filling is smooth and creamy.
Step 4: Line the counter with sheets of parchment paper. Spread a heaping teaspoon of filling between two cookies and sandwich them together. This recipe makes 18-24 cookies.
